“…The buckling load factor with respect to various parameters like the length to thickness (a/h) and thickness of face sheet to thickness of plate (h f /h) ratios are presented. The results obtained are compared with those of several available solutions such as 3D elasticity solution by Noor et al [72], closed form solution based on HSDT by Dafedar et al [74], finite element solution based on high-order globallocal plate theory (GLPT) by Shariyat [75], closed form solution based on mixed layerwise (MLW) theory by Dafedar et al [74], closed form solution based on HSDT by Kheirikhaha et al [76] and the IGA based on dTrSDTs [38,7], as listed in Table 18. As expected, our approaches based on IGA work very well for this problem.…”

“…The displacements, stresses (in case of static analysis) and buckling loads in laminated sandwich beams are calculated by developing a numerical code to implement the above mentioned operations involved in the proposed FE model. The skyline technique has been used to store the global stiffness matrix in a single array and Gaussian decomposition scheme is adopted for the static solution, while simultaneous iteration technique is used for solving the buckling equation (17).…”

“…Dafedar et.al [17] and Dafedar and Desai [16] have presented a theory based on mixed higher order theory for the buckling analysis of laminated composite structures. Two sets of mixed models HYF1 and HYF2 have been presented by selectively incorporating non-linear components of Green's strain tensor.…”

“…Various failure mechanisms are analyzed and explained in numerous research papers. Among the important issues it is necessary to mention local instability (wrinkling of facing) [4,5], shear of the core [6,7], global loss of stability [8], debonding, which is often associated with the occurrence of concentrated dynamic loads [9] and indentation caused by the crushing of the soft core under the acting force [10,11]. Of course, the analysis of these phenomena requires the use of appropriate models.…”
