“…However, the increasing addition of ammonium chloride did not influence the carbon isotope composition of the biogas, and no major shift in the methanogenic pathways can be assumed. This is in agreement with the results of previous studies where high TAN concentrations were adjusted by ammonium chloride, which had no major impact on the relative contribution of aceticlastic methanogenic activity , . The disagreement found between the chicken manure and the ammonium chloride results warrants that ammonium chloride or other ammonium salts are not appropriate to study ammonia inhibition during manure digestion.…”

“…However, although Methanosarcina spp. are reported as highly tolerant to others toxicants, such as ammonia and salts (De Vrieze et al ., ; Hao et al ., ), M. mazei was more vulnerable to palmitate than M. concilii . Palmitate concentrations of 2 mmol L −1 caused a 64% decrease of methane production by M. mazei , while for the same concentration the methanogenic inhibition of M. concilii was only 11% (Table ).…”

“…The primers 349F and 806R can effectively detected archaeal rDNA (Takai and Horikoshi 2000), and it was widely used in many studies to target archaeal communities by highthroughput 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing (Cortés-Lorenzo et al 2014;Frank et al 2013;Sato et al 2013;Hao et al 2015;Rago et al 2015). But, among them, one study showed that archaeal sequences comprised only a low proportion (1-49 %) when this primer was used (Sato et al 2013).…”

“…But, among them, one study showed that archaeal sequences comprised only a low proportion (1-49 %) when this primer was used (Sato et al 2013). Another research also mentioned that OTUs identified as bacteria and eukarya among sequences obtained by using archaea-specific primers were discarded in data analysis part (Hao et al 2015). Such reports indicated the existence of non-archaeal sequences, though their abundance not shown.…”
