Standardization in cyber-physical systems: The ARUM case

Abstract: Abstract-Cyber-physical systems concept supports the realization of the Industrie 4.0 vision towards the computerization of traditional industries, aiming to achieve intelligent and reconfigurable factories. Standardization assumes a critical role in the industrial adoption of cyberphysical systems, namely in the integration of legacy systems as well as the smooth migration from existing running systems to the new ones. This paper analyses some existing standards in related fields and presents identified limit… Show more

“…CPS provides a theoretical framework for mapping the manufacturing-related things to the computing space, so that the modeling of manufacturing systems can be easily achieved. The recent advances and trends of CPS were concluded by J. Lee et al [29], and Leitao et al pointed out that more research is necessary on the standardization of CPS [30].…”

“…For example, CAEX is used as the top level format that connects the different data formats to comprise the plant topology, COLLADA is used for storage of geometric and kinematic information, and PLCopen XML serves for the storage of control logic. Following the publication of the AML standard IEC 62714, the implementation of a consistent engineering information model with AML has to be verified [44]. Aicher reports on a project where consistent verified engineering information has been implemented using AML [3].…”

“…Hence, a comparison of those technologies is a complicated issue and depends heavily on the desired application (process control, motion, IO, centralized vs. decentralized control, etc.). An endeavor to compare some real-time Ethernets in various categorized has been undertaken by the Ethernet Powerlink Standardization Group (EPSG) 8 .…”

“…The Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) has produced specifications for the development of heterogeneous agent-oriented software solutions, being currently the only standard for the development of MAS systems. FIPA specifications are grouped in the following five categories [7], [8]:…”
