Stapled Anopexy: Postoperative Course and Functional Outcome in 400 Patients

Abstract: Treatment of hemorrhoids with circular stapler seems to be effective with low morbidity and high satisfaction rate because of reduced postoperative pain and rapid recovery. This technique also allows improvement of obstructive defecation symptoms, which are seldom studied in patients with hemorrhoids.

“…Reoperation rates after PPH have been reported between 7 and 14% [2,7,12,14]. Although most authors prefer to perform a haemorrhoidectomy in case of a failed PPH [4,10,11], redo PPH has been reported [7,10]. We performed a haemorrhoidectomy in 6 out of 22 patients.…”

“…Recurrence of prolapse after PPH is claimed to be higher in comparison to the excisional haemorrhoidectomy [3,8,9]. In case of a persistent or recurrent prolapse after PPH, a new intervention is sometimes required, and frequently a haemorrhoidectomy is the treatment of choice [4,10,11]. We believe, however, that a second PPH is feasible with good results in most of these patients.…”

Das mittlere Follow-up betrug somit 6,2 ± 1,2 (4,(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)8) Jahre.
