Creation and improvement of a comfortable, environmentally friendly and aesthetically rich environment of tourist areas is of great importance both in large cities and rural areas. The paper aims at the development of a project for the improvement and landscaping of the KupecheskyDvorik public territory in Ustye village (Vologda region, the Russian Federation). Ustye village is a tourist center of the region, so it is important to create an attractive image of the city for tourists. In the course of work, the improvement and landscaping of a public territory was conducted; an assortment of trees, shrubs and herbaceous vegetation was selected; trees and shrubs were planted as long as a lawn and flowerbeds. In accordance with the developed project, Thujaoccidentalis ‘Brabant’ was planted in a row along the building adjacent to the House of the Merchant Nikulichev; an ordinary garden lawn was created from the grass mixture of Festucarubra, Festucapratensis and Poapratensis between the House of the Merchant Nikulichev and its fence. According to the project, on the territory there are flowerbeds consisting of perennial plants: Astilbearendsii Gloria Purpurea, Hósta, PotentillafruticosaAbbotswood, Saxifragaarendsii, Heuchera. On the territory of the KupecheskyDvorik near the buildings there are signs with the name of the object, QR and bar codes. The created landscaping elements attract with their beauty, aesthetics and environmental friendliness which contributes to the creation of a high-quality urban environment and an increase in the tourist attractiveness of the village of Ustye.

Высокие темпы урбанизации сопровождаются значительным увеличением техногенной нагрузки на окружающую среду. Красноярск -промышленный город, и эта проблема является актуальной. Развитие сети городских скверов и парков улучшает качество городской среды. Состояние и развитие деревьев, произрастающих в скверах и парках города, тесно связано со многими техногенными факторами, и поэтому при изучении биометрических параметров древесных насаждений можно сделать вывод об экологическом состоянии городской среды при различных уровнях загрязнения. Распространению на городских объектах озеленения березы повислой и липы мелколистной способствуют их эстетические качества, нетребовательность к почвенным условиям, быстрота роста, зимостойкость, высокие средозащитные свойства. Анализ биометрических параметров данных видов был выполнен в возрастной динамике. Исследования позволяют связать изменчивость биометрических параметров роста березы повислой и липы мелколистной с текущим состоянием и изменением экологии в скверах и парках г. Красноярска и учитывать это при создании новых объектов озеленения. На основании анализа исследований при озеленении городских пространств следует высаживать березу повислую, при этом липа разнообразит видовой состав скверов и парков.

Amid urbanization, studying leaf functional traits of woody plants in urban environments is essential for understanding how urban green spaces function and how they can be effectively managed sustainably. In this study, we investigated the effects of different growing conditions on the morpho-physiological traits of Populus laurifolia and Ulmus pumila across five contrasting urban sites. The leaf area (LA), leaf length (LL), leaf width (LW), leaf biomass (LB), specific leaf area (SLA), leaf chlorophyll concentration, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, leaf water potential at predawn (Ψpd) and midday (Ψmd), leaf performance index (PIabs), and phenotypic plasticity index (PPI) were compared across five contrasting urban sites. The soil chemical and physical properties were also compared between sites. There were significant differences in soil physicochemical characteristics between sites. We found significant effects of site on most of the morpho-physiological traits measured, except for Ψmd. The leaf chlorophyll concentration of P. laurifolia and U. pumila varied significantly between sites. The Ψpd was significantly different between years and sites. In U. pumila, the mean PPI for morphological traits (0.20) was lower than that for physiological traits (0.21). In conclusion, we revealed significant variations in the morpho-physiological traits of P. laurifolia and U. pumila across the five urban sites. Hence, long-term, large-scale studies are recommended to examine how diverse species respond to different urban growing conditions and to include other ecologically important plant traits for a better understanding of urban trees in a changing environment.
