Static and dynamic analyses of composite beams with interlayer slip

Abstract: The present paper gives analytical solutions for shear deformable two-layer beams with weak shear connections. Timoshenko's kinematic assumptions are applied to both layers with different cross-sectional rotations. A linear constitutive equation is used between the horizontal shear force and the interlayer slip. The applied loads act in the plane of symmetry of a two-layered beam and the material-geometrical properties do not depend on the axial coordinate. For simply supported beam closed form solutions are d… Show more

“…One finds an interesting agreement between the results presented by 6 Mathematical Problems in Engineering both methods. e profiles obtained are similar to the ones presented in [43]. Figure 4 shows the deflection distribution along the span, while Figure 5 shows the variation of the bending moment.…”

“…moreover t 1 and t n + 1 temperatures are given. In the next step, instead of using equation (6) to compute the function of the temperature we will fit a curve or curves -for example with the least squares method -to the temperature values t i in order to make the further calculations easier especially the integrations. The approximation function has the following form:…”

“…There are a number of works where multilayered or heterogeneous structural components are analysed, for example in [6][7][8][9]. The paper of Obata and Noda [10] studied a one-dimensional steady-state thermal stress problem for functionally graded hollow circular cylinders and hollow spheres by the use of a perturbation approach to achieve the effect of the composition on stresses and to design the optimum FGM hollow circular cylinder and hollow sphere, under different assumptions of temperature distributions.…”

“…Paper [3] reports mathematical models for determining the internal forces and deflections of hybrid timber-concrete structures, derived from the precise solution of the system of balance equations of the beam on malleable links. The deformation dependences, supplemented with the expressions to assess the free oscillations of a single-span hinge-supported composite beam, obtained using the bending theory of beams by Tymoshenko, are given in article [4]. The drawback of the cited works is the cumbersomeness of the formulae, as well as the lack of comparison of theoretical results with experimental data.…”
