Stationary point focus solar concentrators—A review

Abstract: The innovation in concentrated solar power (CSP) systems is one of the many vital solutions to meet the ever-increasing global energy demands. Among various CSP systems, point focus solar concentrators can attain a higher concentration ratio and helps reduce the size of the receiver, resulting in higher operating temperatures, lower thermal losses, and higher system exergy. This article presents a review on a particular class of CSP systems known as stationary point focus solar concentrators, that is, point fo… Show more

“…This is because a tracking system is mainly used to concentrate direct normal irradiance (DNI) to the target area of an efficient small‐scale solar cell 9,10 . The degree of enhancement in power generation depends on the tracker itself (either single or dual‐axis), 11 the tracking period (summer or winter), tracking orientation (vertical or horizontal or polar axis), geographical location (latitude and longitude), and the power requirement of the tracker 12 . In addition, AL‐Rousan et al 13 investigated the major variables affecting the performance of the single‐axis and dual‐axis solar trackers.…”
