Statistical Analysis for Transmission Error of Gear System with Mechanical and Thermal Deformation Uncertainties

Abstract: We establish a robust algorithm to analyze the influence of system uncertainties on the transmission error of a spur gear pair under 2D simplification. The algorithm provides a way of generating smooth cutter profiles with machining uncertainties and measuring the thermal deformation through the uncertainties in material properties. Then, it produces realizations of gear tooth profiles based on the analytical method for accuracy and computational efficiency. Numerical investigations show the statistical analys… Show more

“…Similar conclusions will be made by Benchekroun et al in 2023 showing that vibration diagnostics can accurately determine the need for preventive maintenance, especially for ventilators operating in conditions of high air pollution [17]. Jovanović et al in 2013 monitored bearing wear in a ventilator drive unit by measuring vibration, showing that identifying bearing wear is feasible [19], and Lee et al in 2021 analyzed the effect of vibration on bearing life in ventilators [20]. Lewandowski and Rozumek et al in 2017 developed fan vibration test methods to assess the wear condition of the motor, ventilator rotor or mechanical gearbox [21], and Zachwieja in 2003 analyzed the influence of factors such as body stiffness, rotor disc unbalance or cracking, bearing damage, system clearances or misalignment of rotor and motor shafts on ventilator vibration [22].…”

“…Following that, the analysis is carried out in the same manner for all other gear pairs as listed in table 2 and various plots of the TE and mesh stiffness curves for pressure angle, number of teeth, module, pitch error and tooth tip radius variations as a function of driver gear rotations are obtained (Figs. [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]. The maximum and minimum values of TE and mesh stiffness i.e., TVMS are represented in table 3 and 4 respectively.…”

“…When a huge dataset is produced, statistical analysis is a useful alternative. Lee et al [13] worked on developing an algorithm for determining TE in spur gear with lots of errors in deformations. They used statistical analysis to do this.…”

“…The gear is a standard transmission component that plays an irreplaceable role in the aerospace industry, military applications, automobile manufacturing, precision instruments, 3C products, and other fields [1,2]. The multi-alloy gears made by metal powder injection molding technology can not only improve the strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of gears but can also improve production efficiency and meet the needs of large-scale production [3][4][5][6][7].…”
