Statistical distribution of the vacuum energy density in racetrack Kähler uplift models in string theory

Abstract: We study a racetrack model in the presence of the leading α -correction in flux compactification in Type IIB string theory, for the purpose of getting conceivable de-Sitter vacua in the large compactified volume approximation. Unlike the Kähler Uplift model studied previously, the α -correction is more controllable for the metastable de-Sitter vacua in the racetrack case since the constraint on the compactified volume size is very much relaxed. We find that the vacuum energy density Λ for de-Sitter vacua appro… Show more

“…In this Section, we describe our main proposal on the probability distributions. As illustrations, we recall some results obtained in a toy model [2,3] and extend them to illustrate the importance and validity of our main input/assumptions. The main point is to show that if we write down an effective potential satisfying some stringy requirements, then vacua with small vacuum energy are statistically preferred.…”

“…In particular, we observe this feature in the the Kähler uplift model [4][5][6][7][8], which is up-todate the best controlled way to reach deSitter (dS) space among the proposed ones. In the Racetrack Kähler uplift model [2], one calculates the probability distribution P (Λ) and finds that the median value can easily match the observed value. Furthermore, a new scale m 10 2 GeV automatically emerges [1].…”

“…In the simplest version of the Kähler uplifting scenario, there is an upper bound on the overall volume of the Calabi-Yau such that one may worry about higher order α -corrections. However, this bound can be significantly relaxed when embedded in a racetrack model [26].…”

“…We do not expect tadpole cancellation to be in general more restrictive than in e.g., the AdS LVS. In particular, we do not require a large number of D7-branes [22] and/or racetrack effect [26] on a particular single divisor to achieve a large volume as in the Kähler Uplifting scenario.…”
