“…After injection into the ESR the beams can be accelerated or decelerated to any energy which corresponds to a magnetic rigidity in the range 0.5 to 10 Tm. The addition of the former CRYRING (Figure 7) as another stage for deceleration of heavy ions and rare isotopes will open an extended scope for experiments with low energy stored and cooled heavy ion beams in the new CRYRING@ESR facility which is part of the FAIR Phase-0 experimental program [83].
