Status of Benzene, Toluene and Xylene near petrol pumps of Satna city M.P.

Abstract: Benzene, Toluene and Xylene (BTX) are present in both exhaust and evaporative emission from vehicles and at the fuel delivery outlets in the urban atmosphere. The aim of the present study was to understand ambient air quality with respect to carcinogenic pollutants i.e. BTX (Benzene, Toluene and Xylene). Study was conducted in different petrol pumps at Satna city. Air samples were collected and analyzed as per CPCB guidelines/BIS Standards. BTX sample were analyzed using gas chromatograph (GC) fitted with capi… Show more

“…Several studies have been conducted in major hotspot areas around the world [2,3,15,21,31,35,47,75,[103][104][105][106][107][108][109][110][111]. Literature related to observed values of benzene and other VOCs at fuel stations has been published [2,[112][113][114][115][116][117]. Jafari et al studied atmospheric benzene and its health effects in Tehran megacity from 2010-2013, with yearly average benzene concentration ranging from 1.84 to 2.57 µ g/m³ [118].…”
