Steady state responses of poroelastic half-space soil medium to a moving rectangular load

Abstract: The dynamic steady state responses of a poroelastic half-space soil medium subjected to a moving rectangular load are investigated analytically/numerically. The full dynamic poroelastic theory of Biot is employed, under the assumption of an incompressible solid grain and neglecting the apparent mass density. Using the Fourier transform, the governing equations of motion are then reduced to a system of four coupled ordinary differential equations which are solved semi-analytically. Soil vertical displacements, … Show more

“…The model of a fully saturated poroelastic half-space subjected to a moving rectangular load is employed, and the parameters for the calculation are the same for both method. It can be seen that the results for the present work and that of Cai et al (2007) are in good agreement with each other.…”

“…For example, the responses of a poroelastic half-space subjected to a moving load under the plane strain condition were studied by Burke and Kingsbury [11], Siddharthan et al [12], Theodorakopoulos [13], Theodorakopoulos et al [14] and Jin et al [15] . The three-dimensional steady-state responses of a fully saturated poroelastic half-space subjected to a moving rectangular load was investigated by Cai et al [16]. Xu et al [17,18] studied the dynamic response of layered poroelastic half-space and an infinite beam on layered poroelastic half-space under moving load, respectively.…”
