Steel transmission towers: some current topics

Abstract: In developed countries the environmental impact of the traditional transmission towers is no longer accepted. Currently available design solutions with acceptable appearance are not employed in the developing countries, mainly for cost reasons. In the developing countries the use of the traditional lattice transmission towers will continue employing steel angles. A comparison of the available design specifications for steel angles in transmission towers is presented.
