“…Some research has been also concentrated on fans who lack geographical proximity with their favorite sport team (e.g., displaced fans, fans who support away teams that compete in the same league as the local alternatives, and foreign supporters) in terms of the reasons for following such teams or of the antecedents to team identification (Adrijiw and Hyatt, 2009; Collins et al , 2016; Hyatt and Adrijiw, 2008; Kerr and Emery, 2016; Pu and James, 2017). “…Quite contrary to previous theorizing (Wann, 2006c), the social connections among distant fans were found to contribute to their collective self-esteem (H3). Prior research indicated that the lasting relationships between fans who follow a home team from afar can elevate their overall well-being (Scola et al , 2019). Along the same lines, the present results showed that fans of foreign teams not only can create permanent connections with fellow others, but also that such friendships can increase their collective self-esteem.…”

“…This support can help build a player's confidence and assist in their quest to achieve victory. Active and enthusiastic supporters can help build a positive atmosphere around the club (Pittsburgh et al, 2019). This can help create more positive conditions for PSM players in the 2022/2023 League 1 season competition, so that they are more motivated to achieve victory.…”
