“…It has been shown that there is a greater n-3 fatty acid incorporation into rat muscle PL fed a diet with a low n-6/ n-3 ratio (0.49) in comparison to a diet with a ratio of 4.4 [25]. Weber and Mukherjee [27] reported a twofold increase of the relative proportion of docosahexaenoic acid in total heart and liver lipids and up to 4.5fold higher percentage in PE of heart, liver, and brain in rats fed a rapeseed oil supplemented diet compared to high-oleic sunflower oil and olive oil addition. The moderate proportion of a-linolenic acid in rapeseed is finally converted to DHA by elongation and desaturation.…”
