StentBoost Visualization for the Evaluation of Coronary Stent Expansion During Percutaneous Coronary Interventions

Abstract: IntroductionInadequate stent implantation is associated with stent thrombosis and restenosis. StentBoost can enhance stent visualization and evaluate stent expansion. Currently, there are limited comparison studies between StentBoost and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). We aimed to test the correlation and agreement between IVUS and StentBoost measurements.MethodsFrom December 2010 to December 2011, 38 patients (54 stents) were analyzed using IVUS and StentBoost. Minimal stent diameter and proximal and distal … Show more

“…It has been found to be particularly useful for obese patients, long lesions, in-stent restenosis and bifurcating lesions[ 77 , 86 , 154 ]. Although the accuracy and resolution of DSE is lower than intravascular imaging, measurement of stent diameters correlated well[ 71 , 73 , 87 , 153 , 155 ]. Its main drawback could be the increased radiation dose, however this does not have a significant impact on the patient[ 86 ].…”

“…This differs from the abovementioned technique by the contrast injection[ 84 ]. The resulting image can be used for stent expansion assessment, visually and quantitatively, much like during QCA analysis[ 85 - 87 ]. Its ease-of-use and availability, along with the high-quality stent images delivered, have led to DSE being an important alternative or complement to stent visualization techniques during PCI.…”

“…In recent years, data have been published showing the role of ESV technique in complex PCI 37, 38, 39, 40. This technique is helpful during stent placement and guides optimal stent expansion.…”
