Step-wise sulfurization of stable 1,2-bis(ferrocenyl)diphosphene

Abstract: Sulfurization reactions of a stable 1,2-bis(ferrocenyl)diphosphene, Fc P=PFc (Fc = 2,5-bis(3,5-dimethylphenyl)ferrocenyl), with elemental sulfur (S 8 ) were examined. At the first stage of the sulfurization reaction, the corresponding thiadiphosphirane derivative was obtained. It was found that further sulfurization afforded the corresponding 1,3,2,4-dithiadiphosphetane-2,4-disulfide derivative, dithioxophosphorane dimer.
