Abstract:Sterically hindered silyl perchlorates were initially examined in hopes of finding evidence of a trivalent cationic silicon species or silylenium ion. Although our studies failed to uncover solid evidence of ionization, it was dis covered that these compounds had unique synthetic potential as silylating agents. All silyl perchlorates examined to date have been found to be highly reactive, relative to their halogenide counterparts, toward nucleophilic agents. t^Butyldimethylsilyl perchlorate offers a significan… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
