Abstract:Sir,The non-availability and low quality of most of the available suture materials in northern Nigeria has necessitated preliminary evaluation of some locally available threads to use in their stead. These include nylon rope strand, cobblers' thread, embroidery thread, nylon fishing line and hair-braiding thread, which are easily available and less costly.
