Steroid-depleted polycystic ovarian syndrome serum promotesin vitrooocyte maturation and embryo development

Abstract: In vitro maturation (IVM) of immature oocytes obtained from patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is considered as a novel strategy in order to reduce clinical side effects and cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) technique. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of PCOS whole and steroid-depleted serums on in vitro oocyte maturation indices. Patients with PCOS were selected according to the Rotterdam criteria. Cumulus-oocyte complexes and blood serums were collected and pooled. Cumulus c… Show more

“…However, it has already been stated that cumulus cells are capable to synthesize and secrete E2 and P4 in vitro (Barrera et al, 2018; Beker, Colenbrander, & Bevers, 2002; Blaschka et al, 2019). Based on two previous studies, supplemented culture media with lipid‐depleted serum obtained from normal women and patients with PCOS considerably improved the capacity of IVM system in oocyte maturation (Eyvaznejad et al, 2018; Mardomi et al, 2019). Hence, we applied charcoal‐stripped endometriosis serum to enhance the efficacy of IVM system (Cao et al, 2009; Castro, Morrill, & Pope, 2000).…”
