“…On the other hand, megesterol acetate proved to be useful for the patients who failed to respond to other forms of therapy [3], and the place of hormonal therapy in the management of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer needs more thorough evaluation in well-designed randomized trials [4]. As the aspect of steroid receptor expression in ovarian cancers, no stable information about patient prognosis has been reported as following: Only approximately 40% of the malignant tumors contained measurable amounts of estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) [5], the contents of ER and PR, especially of ER alone were not related to clinical stage and prognostic information [6], and epithelial cells in ovarian cancer tissue showed significantly lower mean immunoreactivity of ER␤ and PR, but not ER␣, than in normal ovarian tissue [7].
