Indeed, Paillard et al (2010b) showed that for a given intensity and duration of stimulation, the strength loss of quadriceps femoris induced by fatiguing stimulated contractions was greater than that induced by fatiguing voluntary contractions, while postural control is more disturbed by voluntary contractions. According to these authors, voluntary contractions disturb postural control more than stimulated contractions because they would affect descending drive and tonic muscle fibers more.…”
