Stimulated Scattering of Surface Plasmon Polaritons in a Plasmonic Waveguide with a Smectic A Liquid Crystalline Core

Abstract: We considered theoretically the nonlinear interaction of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) plasmonic waveguide with a smectic liquid crystalline core. The interaction is related to the specific cubic optical nonlinearity mechanism caused by smectic layer oscillations in the SPP electric field.
