Abstract: Hot carriers rapidly lose kinetic energies on a subpicosecond time scale, posing significant limitations on semiconductors' photon-conversion efficiencies. To slow the hot carrier cooling, the phonon bottleneck effect is constructed prevalently in quantum-confined structures with discrete energy levels.
