“…As noted above, drug preexposure has been reported to attenuate the acquisition of taste avoidance, and the two drugs examined here have been used in such designs and have been shown to impact avoidance induced by other drugs (fluoxetine) and are impacted by drug history (MDMA). For example, fluoxetine preexposure attenuates avoidance induced by a variety of drugs including LiCl (Lorden & Nunn, 1982), MK212, 8-OH-DPAT and 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodoamphetamine (Berendsen & Broekkamp, 1994), mirtazapine (Berendsen & Broekkamp, 1997), fluvoxamine (Gommans et al, 1998; see Olivier et al, 1999 for partial attenuation), cocaine (Jones et al, 2009; though see Serafine & Riley, 2013), and venlafaxine (Kayir et al, 2008).
