Abstract:Enveloped viruses enter the host cell by fusing at the cell membrane or entering the cell via endocytosis and fusing at the endosome. Conventional inhibitors target the viral fusion protein to inactivate it for inducing fusion. These target-specific visa-vis virus-specific inhibitors fail to display their inhibitory efficacy against emerging and remerging viral infections.
