Strategic logistics outsourcing: An integrated QFD and fuzzy AHP approach

Abstract: This paper develops an integrated approach, combining quality function deployment (QFD), fuzzy set theory, and analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach, to evaluate and select the optimal third-party logistics service providers (3PLs). In the approach, multiple evaluating criteria are derived from the requirements of company stakeholders using a series of house of quality (HOQ). The importance of evaluating criteria is prioritized with respect to the degree of achieving the stakeholder requirements using fuzz… Show more

“…AHP decomposes complex problems into separate small-size sub-problems in terms of different evaluation objectives such as cost optimization, timely delivery, and flexibility, among others. Each sub-problem is a single objective decision making problem that can be solved quite easily Ho, 2008;Ho et al, 2012;Subramanian and Ramanathan, 2012;Rajesha and Malligab, 2013). Furthermore, SCA is used to predict supply disruptions by supply chain mapping and enterprise social networking to identify the sources of supply uncertainties and manage ongoing collaborative relationship with suppliers (Souza, 2014).…”

“…He determined compatibility, financial stability, flexibility, operational performance, quality management, and reputation as criteria. Ho et al (2012) proposed an integrated quality function deployment (QFD) and Fuzzy AHP for 3PLs provider selection in China. They used 6 criteria which are delivery, risk, technology, quality, cost, and flexibility.…”

“…Fuzzy AHP elaborates the standard AHP method into a fuzzy approach by using fuzzy numbers instead of crisp values. Similar to the AHP, fuzzy AHP has also been applied to many different studies, such as supply chain planning, outsourcing, and site selection [34][35][36].…”
