Abstract:Barthe proved that the regular simplex maximizes the mean width of convex bodies whose John ellipsoid (maximal volume ellipsoid contained in the body) is the Euclidean unit ball; or equivalently, the regular simplex maximizes the ℓ-norm of convex bodies whose Löwner ellipsoid (minimal volume ellipsoid containing the body) is the Euclidean unit ball. Schmuckenschläger verified the reverse statement; namely, the regular simplex minimizes the mean width of convex bodies whose Löwner ellipsoid is the Euclidean uni… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
