Strengthening the existing connection of steel beams with a column

Abstract: The paper presents a solution that includes strengthening the connection of a support column with beams from both sides, placed in a vertical plane together with the pole. All the bar elements connected in the analyzed node were made of hot-rolled steel I-sections. Due to the need to increase the load on the joined beams to the pole, load-bearing capacity of the primary connection is lost, which necessitates the reinforcement of the existing connection. The analysis carried out in this paper shown exceeding th… Show more

“…On the other hand, in articles [5][6][7][8][9][10][11], the authors presented the methods of connections in structures, comparing various solutions to demonstrate the most effective solutions ensuring adequate load-bearing capacity. Correctly designed assembly connections ensure adequate redistribution of forces to individual load-bearing elements, while maintaining optimal cross-sections ensuring sufficient load-bearing capacity, and this allows for effective use of the load-bearing capacity of all elements in the structure [5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. Steel is characterized by high tensile strength, so it is worth using these properties in tension structures where significant loads are transferred by tensioned tendons, most often made of round steel bars.…”
