Streptomyces ansochromogenes Tur-10 produces a substance with antifungal bioactivity

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The increased incidence of fungal infections and the development of drug resistance have led to the search for microorganisms capable of producing bioactive metabolites with antifungal activity. Among these microorganisms, Streptomyces spp are distinguished mainly owing to their potential to secrete bioactive molecules. The aim of this study was to evaluate the production of secondary metabolites by Streptomyces sp TUR-10 against 12 fungal clinical isolates (yeast and filamentous fungi). In the preli… Show more

“…Streptomyces is the most important genus of this group because of its relevant capacity and versatility to produce metabolites such as antibiotics, herbicides, insecticides, antifungals, antitumour or immunosuppressant drugs, and anthelmintic agents (Behal 2000;Inbar et al 2005;Hopwood 2007; Barka et al 2016;Silva-Lacerda et al 2016). Streptomyces ansochromogenes is a species that can be isolated from the soil environment and is related to producers of antibiotics like Nikkomycin and Tylosin (Liao et al, 2010;Lu et al 2015;Vasconcelos et al 2015). Moreover, bioactive compounds produced by members of the genus Streptomyces have been researched and L-asparaginase enzyme production has also been widely explored (Meena et al 2015).…”
