Abstract:In this paper, extensive three-dimensional finite element analysis is conducted to study an asymmetric four-point shear (AFPS) specimen: a widely used mixed-mode I/II fracture test specimen. Complete solutions of fracture mechanics parameters KI, KII, KIII, T11, and T33 have been obtained for a wide range of a/W and t/W geometry combinations. It is demonstrated that the thickness of the specimen has a significant effect on the variation of fracture parameter values. Their effects on the crack tip plastic zone … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
