Stromal expression of CD10 in breast carcinoma and its correlation with clinicopathological parameters

Abstract: Introduction:Breast cancer is the foremost cause of death in women worldwide with more than one million cases occurring annually.Aim:This study was conducted to study the stromal CD10 expression in breast carcinomas (BCa) and its correlation with various prognostic factors such as tumor size, histological grade, lymph node status, estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), HER2neu, and Ki67 status.Materials and Methods:Sixty cases of BCa diagnosed between 2013 and 2015 were included in the study. Stro… Show more

“…16 Epithelial immunoexpression of CD10 was found to be associated with tumor grade, stage, and lymph node invasion in colorectal cancer. 17 On the other hand, the stromal immunoexpression of CD10 was found to be associated with a larger tumor size in colorectal carcinoma, 18 lymph node metastasis, recurrence and disease-free in breast carcinoma, [19][20][21] and gastric carcinoma. 22 Limitations of the study: This study utilized tissue microarray material, which includes representative cores of tissue.…”

“…There are some previous studies concluding that stromal expression of CD10 is an obvious negative prognostic factor of breast cancer. It is correlated with higher grade, node positivity, increased Ki67 index, positive HER2 status and poorer prognosis supplemented with the antiapoptotic effect that plays role in reduced chemosensitivity (12,20,(30)(31)(32)(33)(34). Diem Vo et al concluded that CD10 expression in stroma may function as a powerful prognostic factor for invasive breast cancer disease-free survival rates, and in predicting potential recurrence (35).…”

“…CD10 is an antigen found on the surface of specific cells, including stromal cells in fibroadenomas. Its variable expression pattern can aid pathologists in confirming the diagnosis of fibroadenomas and distinguishing them from other entities with distinct IHC profiles [ 24 ].…”
