Most of the comparative circadian studies conducted on Lepidoptera involve the giant silkmoth, Antheraea pernyi , the domestic silk moth Bombyx mori and the monarch butterfly, Danaus plexippus , (Sauman & Hashimi, 1999; Chang et al ., 2003; Sehadova et al ., 2004; Takeda et al ., 2004; Zhu et al ., 2005, 2008a,b; Iwai et al ., 2006; Reppert, 2006; Trang le et al ., 2006; Iwai et al ., 2008).
