The article is devoted to the enrichment of theoretical ideas about the content and psychological features of the professional activity of legal specialists. In particular, the substantive psychological characteristics of legal activity, its structural components, characteristics and parameters of its style, performance criteria, key tasks, and different views on the complex of professionally significant personal traits of professional lawyers are highlighted. The main psychological characteristics of legal activity are presented, among which the main ones are the presence of powers, pronounced extremeness, immersion in a wide range of social contacts. Based on the source base, the key parameters of the style of legal activity are defined, namely normativity, organization, preparedness and efficiency. A complex of individual psychological characteristics that should be represented in the structure of the personality of a professional lawyer as a condition of his production efficiency.The structure of the professional activity of lawyers, which includes communicative, organizational, certifying, searching, and reconstructive activities, has been theoretically studied. This made it possible to determine the essential phenomenological characteristics of each of the named components of the structure of professional legal activity.The importance of the optimal functioning of the intellectual sphere for the professional efficiency of a lawyer is substantiated, which is associated with the pronounced cognitive nature of his professional activity and the need to constantly solve intellectual problems, the content of which lies in the field of administration of justice. Despite the systematic nature of the lawyer's professional activity, which implies a significant number of requirements for a specialist in this field, the necessity of the mandatory presence in the structure of the personality of a specialist in jurisprudence of a dyad of individual psychological traits, consisting of extraordinary intellectual and cognitive capabilities (attentiveness, ingenuity, observation, analytical skills), as well as well-formed sociability, which together underlies high level of development of social intelligence.It is established that the object of the lawyer's work is all aspects of the case, to which his efforts are directed and which he is obliged to model, reproduce and disclose in detail. Therefore, it is determined that the object of a lawyer's work can be both information that is subject to registration and hidden in certain material objects, social situations and a set of other circumstances related to a specific transaction or crime, and the behavior of certain people, which is expressed in individual actions, states and attitudes.
