Structural and Optical Properties of Polypyrrole/NiO Doped Nanocomposites

Abstract: This study reports the synthesis of polypyrrole/NiO doped nanocomposites (NCs) as a shielding pigment in organic coatings. Polypyrrole/NiO doped NCs were prepared by in-situ chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole monomer. Here dopant NiO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by solution combustion method using Aloe vera gel as fuel with ammonium per sulphate (APS) as oxidant. Different concentrations of NiO (10-50 wt%) NPs were incorporated into the polypyrrole. The synthesized nanocomposites were charact… Show more

“…The dopant helps modify the electronic properties of PPy, making it more suitable for certain applications where enhanced conductivity is desired. The precise chemical details of this interaction may vary based on the conditions and the specific structural characteristics of the Iron (III) Tosylate used in the reaction (Bhadra et [2,3,8,11] .…”

“…Bora et al studied the optical properties of PPy/Graphene composites. They reported the optical band gap of PPy and PPy/Graphene composites, as given in Table 3 , using the following equation [ 170 ]. E opt g is the optical band gap, and λ edge is the absorption edge [ 146 ].…”

“…Inamdar et al synthesized PPy/NiO-doped nanocomposites by in situ polymerization and studied their optical properties using diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS). The energy band gap (E g ) was found to be 1.84 and was determined using Kubelka-Munk (K-M) theory [ 170 ]. Tarmizi et al synthesized the PPy/zeolite composite using the chemical oxidation method to improve the physical properties of PPy [ [171] , [172] , [173] , [174] ].…”

“…NiO is a promising pseudocapacitive electrode due to its high capacity and stability. On the other hand, the performance of NiO electrodes is poor due to their low conductivity 17 , 18 . In this study, a new nanocomposite of Ppy/NiO electrodes were fabricated via one–step facile electrochemical deposition method at different currents onto the surface of graphite sheet.…”
