Structural and phase composition modification of nanocrystalline Nd14Fe79B7 alloy during thermomagnetic measurements

Abstract: Changes in the microstructure parameters, phase composition and magnetic properties of rapid quenched Nd-rich Nd14Fe79B7 alloy caused by thermomagnetic measurement (TM) were studied using XRD methods of phase analysis, crystallite size and lattice microstrain determination. The observed changes were analyzed between the optimized magnetic state of this alloy and state after TM up to 800oC. Measurement of magnetic properties was carried out on the SQUID magnetometer at ambient temperature. The obtained experime… Show more

“…High values of remanence are achieved when the iron content is increased and Nd 2 Fe 14 B/α-Fe and/or Nd 2 Fe 14 B/Fe 3 B type nanocomposite microstructure are developed [1,10]. Nanocrystalline permanent magnets have been extensively studied because of their potential for production of bonded magnets [11,12,13].…”

“…This type of alloys is characterized by intergranular exchange coupling between the grains of the same Nd 2 Fe 14 B hard magnetic phase [9,10] and exhibit high-quality magnetic performance with high value of maximum energy product. Full characterization and analysis of different Nd-Fe-B structures were reported previously [11,12]. Comparisons between nanostructures with various content of neodymium clearly show the differences between two investigated structures [13].…”

“…Due to the rapid development in some fields, such as electronic communication, automation and recording media, extensive attentions have been paid to Fe-based alloys [1,2]. The family of Fe-Cu-Nb-Si-B alloys (also called Finemet alloys) is a kind of excellent soft magnetic materials and have widely been used in industrial applications [3,4].…”
