Structural and photoluminescence studies on europium-doped lithium tetraborate (Eu:Li 2 B 4 O 7 ) single crystal grown by microtube Czochralski (μT-Cz) technique

Abstract: Rare earth europium (Eu 3+ )-doped lithium tetraborate (Eu:Li 2 B 4 O 7 ) crystal is grown from its stoichiometric melt by microtube Czochralski pulling technique (µT-Cz) for the first time. The grown crystals are subjected to powder x-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis which reveals the tetragonal crystal structure of the crystals. UV-vis-NIR spectral analysis is carried out to study the optical characteristics of the grown crystals. The crystal is transparent in the entire visible region, and the lower cutoff i… Show more

“…% Ag was almost in blue light region, consistent with emission spectra revealing a peak at 475 nm corresponding to excited Ag plasmons. It is possible to observe that, color coordinates of all heat treated samples independent from Ag content in red light emitting region and close to ideal red chromacity (0.67, 0.33) [30]. These findings are in parallel with structural and photoluminescence analyses; and highlights the efficient red light emission within heat treated samples.…”

“…High quantum efficiency amplification has been previously demonstrated in crystalline matrices consisting of silicon oxide or organic complexes doped with erbium (Tong et al, 2015;Pacifici et al, 2003;Kik et al, 2000;Zeng et al, 2013). Recent research has investigated less common matrices, such as halogenides and borates of alkaline and transitional metals (Thomas et al, 2015;Jose et al, 2021;Ding et al, 2022;Zhuang et al, 2013;Kumaresh et al, 2016;Kumar et al, 2008). Borate compounds are widely used in UV-Vis and IR optics.…”
