Abstract: The intracellular concentration of chlorine anions ([Cl-]i), the equilibrium potential for chlorine anions (ECl) and transmembrane chloride currents (ICl) are the factors that significantly influence the electrophysiological properties of excitable tissue, including the myocardium.
