Structural Characterization of an Alkali‐Soluble Polysaccharide from Angelica sinensis and Its Antitumor Activity in Vivo

Abstract: A novel alkali‐soluble polysaccharide (AASP) was isolated from Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels under aqueous alkali treatment, and its structural characterization and antitumor activity in Vivo were evaluated in present study. Results of HPGPC and IC revealed that AASP was a neutral polysaccharide containing Ara, Gal and Glc in the mole ratio of 1.00 : 2.26 : 24.43, with the average molecular weight of 4.7 kDa. Periodate oxidation, Smith degradation, methylation, FT‐IR, and NMR analyses further demonstrated th… Show more

“…The FT-IR spectrum of RPP-2a is illustrated in Figure 3 . RPP-2a displayed the characteristic absorption peaks of polysaccharides at 3401.82 cm −1 , 2927.41 cm −1 , and 1421.28 cm −1 [ 22 ]. The band that appeared at 3401.82 cm −1 corresponded to -OH stretching vibration [ 23 , 24 ].…”

“…The FT-IR spectrum of RPP-3a is illustrated in Figure 3 . RPP-3a displayed the typical absorption peaks of polysaccharides at 3426.89 cm −1 , 2927.41 cm −1 , and 1421.28 cm −1 [ 15 ]. The band in the region of 3426.89 cm −1 indicated the characteristic absorption of -OH stretching vibration [ 16 , 17 ].…”

“…The peak at around 1743 cm À 1 illustrated the presence of uronic acid, the peak at 1621 cm À 1 was caused by CÀ O stretching vibration, [21] the peak at around 1440 cm À 1 was due to the bending vibration of CÀ H, the peak that appeared near 1050 cm À 1 was the absorption peak resulting from the absorption of the common pyranolactones and hydroxy groups, and the peak 817 cm À 1 was due to the existence of α-type glycosidic bonds (Fig- ure 4B).
