Abstract: Two tetrachloridozincate salts of 4-carboxy-1H-imidazol-3-ium were structurally characterized. The first crystallizes with a water molecule of hydration and the second with a water of hydration and two equivalents of the zwitterion 4-carboxy-1H-imidazole per salt formula unit.
