Structural Features and Biological Studies of Dioxomolybdenum(VI) Complexes of Thiosemicarbazones

Abstract: Synthesis, characterization, and spectral features of six-coordinated dioxomolybdenum(VI) complexes of the type, [MoO2(tscz)2] (where Htscz represents the thiosemicarbazone moiety) are reported. These have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measurements, molecular weight determinations, and magnetic studies. Based on IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and electronic spectral studies, an octahedral geometry with cis-MoO2 structure has been proposed. The antibacterial and fungicidal activities of two repres… Show more

“…In the spectra of the 1:1 manganese metal complexes, a band observed at 675-890 cm )1 can be assigned to the coordinated H 2 O molecule. This band is absent in the spectra of the corresponding 1:2 complexes[25]. Further, the appearance of a strong band in the 940-980 cm )1 region in the vanadium complexes may be assigned to V=O stretching vibrations.…”

“…Further, the appearance of a strong band in the 940-980 cm )1 region in the vanadium complexes may be assigned to V=O stretching vibrations. In the case of the spectra of the molybdenum complexes some new bands in the regions 920-910 and 900-890 cm )1 may be assigned to m asym (O=Mo=O) and m asym (O=Mo=O) indicating a cis-MoO 2 structure[25].…”

“…Their characterisation can be consulted in [9][10][11], although, to our best knowledge, a detailed assignment of IR and NMR signals for H 2 L 3 was not reported. In order to perform a rigorous comparison with its copper(I) complex, the 1 H NMR spectrum of H 2 L 3 (vide infra) was recorded on same apparatus using the same solvent.…”
