This study examined how different factors can influence employees' work engagement. Work-related social media use outside working hours can be a paradox with negative implications for work engagement. Perceived organizational support can be a boost that positively impacts work engagement. A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 344 employees across sectors in the greater Jakarta area to test the research hypothesis. The collected data is then processed using the structural equation modeling (SEM) method. The findings in this study indicate that work-related social media use and perceived organizational support are proven to significantly affect work engagement through the mediating role of organizational identification, work-to-family conflict, and family-to-work conflict. The results of this study are expected to be taken into consideration by organizations in formulating policies on setting balanced working hours, maximizing the role of organizational support, and minimizing the potential for work-family conflict so that employees can feel a strong sense of work engagement and maximize their contribution to the organization in the digital era.

Photo-catalysis is a research field with broad applications in terms of potential technological applications related to energy production and managing, environmental protection, and chemical synthesis fields. A global goal, common to all of these fields, is to generate photo-catalytic materials able to use a renewable energy source such as the sun. As most active photocatalysts such as titanium oxides are essentially UV absorbers, they need to be upgraded in order to achieve the fruitful use of the whole solar spectrum, from UV to infrared wavelengths. A lot of different strategies have been pursued to reach this goal. Here, we selected representative examples of the most successful ones. We mainly highlighted doping and composite systems as those with higher potential in this quest. For each of these two approaches, we highlight the different possibilities explored in the literature. For doping of the main photocatalysts, we consider the use of metal and non-metals oriented to modify the band gap energy as well as to create specific localized electronic states. We also described selected cases of using up-conversion doping cations. For composite systems, we described the use of binary and ternary systems. In addition to a main photo-catalyst, these systems contain low band gap, up-conversion or plasmonic semiconductors, plasmonic and non-plasmonic metals and polymers.

In our present study, Ce doped CdS nanoparticles were synthesized in room temperature environment by using chemical co-precipitation technique which is cheap in cost. Ce doped CdS nanoparticles ( average particle size: 3.7 nm) were found to have cubic structure as a result of XRD measurements. It has also been clearly observed that Ce dopant ions do not alter the structure of the host semiconductor CdS. Using the spectrum obtained as a result of UV-Vis measurement, the energy band gap of Ce doped CdS nanoparticles was determined as 2.73 eV. This value was observed to be higher than the energy band gap of bulk CdS (2.42 eV). Thus, it can be said that this change in the energy band gap is due to the quantum confinement effect. The maximum IPCE value was 27% for Ce doped CdS nanoparticles while the IPCE values was 4% for pure CdS nanoparticles, respectively. The IPCE of the solar cells improves with the Ce dopant ion. Moreover, the spectral response range of Ce doped CdS nanoparticles widens with the Ce dopant ion. This is attributed to the long lifetimes of the Ce3+ excited states that facilities the transfer of the charge carries to the photoelectrode.
