Structural Phase of Y358 Superconductor Comparison with Y123

Abstract: We analyze an experiment in which two distinct superconducting phases YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7−δ (Y123) and Y 3 Ba 5 Cu 8 O 18−δ (Y358) coexisted. This experiment enabled us to characterize the recently introduced Y358 phase in contrast to the Y123 phase, thus to resolve some discrepancies reported in associated properties of Y358. Specifically, our experiment indicates the transition temperature T mid C = 105 K and 94 K for Y358 and Y123, respectively, and that Y358 has five CuO 2 planes and three CuO chains, with Pmm2… Show more

“…As reported in the references [12] and [15], the grain size of the sample is a function of the oxygen content applied to it, therefore, the samples of Pr1.5Eu1.5Ba5Cu8O18 must have a process of oxygenation. Figure 4.…”

“…For the elaboration of a theoretical Rietveld plot and the refinement of the system Pr1.5Eu1.5Ba5Cu8O18 the superconducting material Y358 [12] was taken as a reference point. Figure 1 shows the analysis of Rietveld refinement, where you obtained a cell with a crystallographic space group P2mm and the following parameters: a=3.892454Å, b=3.894411Å and c=31.155851Å; this structure has been reported as perovskite-orthorhombic [13].…”

“…Wu et al [1] investigated Y123 superconductor with transition temperature about 90 K has one CuO chain and two CuO2 planes. Gholipour et al [6], Tavana et al [4] and Khosroabadi et al [7] studies reveal that the Y358 superconducting alloys have transition temperature in the rage of 101 to 110 K with the Ag doping. The variation in the transition temperature is due to the presence of various crystal structures presents in the Y358 superconducting alloys.…”

“…The variation in the transition temperature is due to the presence of various crystal structures presents in the Y358 superconducting alloys. The crystal structure Pmmm2 which consists five CuO2 planes and three CuO chains and lattice parameter a, b and c are 3.845 Å, 3.894 Å and 31.093 Å respectively Gholipour et al [6]. The other crystal structure pmmm that consists six CuO2 planes and two CuO chains and lattice parameter a, b and c are 3.838 Å, 3.904 Å and 31.043 Å respectively [4][5][6].…”

“…As a consequence, different aspects of the physical and superconducting properties can be observed, such as the temperature dependence of electric resistance, 3 the critical temperature (TC), 3,4 and the magnetic irreversibility, 5 for example. The Y358 may be synthesized by different techniques, including sol-gel 6,7 and biopolymer routes, 8 resulting in sintered, [9][10][11] melt-textured, 12 nanowires and nanorods 8 samples.…”
