Structure and characterization for conterminously linked polymer of short‐chain epoxy resin with triallyl isocyanurate and bismaleimide

Abstract: The short-chain epoxy resin (SCER) was prepared direct from epichlorohydrin/bisphenol A (ECH/BPA). The resulted SCER and 4,4 0 -diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS) with various weight percent of triallyl isocyanurate/4,4 0 -bismaleimidophenylmethane (TAIC/BMI) were subsequently thermally coreacted to the corresponding high performance materials for high frequency application. They were characterized using potentiometry, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric ana… Show more

“…This problem impelled research regarding flame retardancy improvements of epoxy resins and has received much attention. [4,5] Traditionally, halogen flame retardants were widely used as hardeners or additives in epoxy resins to prepare flame retardant materials. Although halogenated compounds showed excellent flame retardant efficiency for epoxy resins and have been widely used for several decades, their use has been curtailed in many regions because of the release of toxic and corrosive fumes during combustion in recent years.…”

“…30 Therefore, it is expected that DAIC and BMI similarly react and the allyl-unsubstituted imide group (C@ONHC@O) can form MHB with the diaminotriazine moiety which remains by nonstoichiometric reaction of BMI and ML. In this study, the influence of introduction of MHB into the BMI/DAIC/ML curing system on the thermal and mechanical properties was investigated by changing the feed molar ratio.…”

“…However, the flammability of epoxy resins leads to fire disaster inevitably, which severely limits their functional applications. Therefore, the epoxy resins are subjected to various mandatory controls for safety reasons [4,5].…”
