Abstract:Cr(CO)5(phen) generated as an intermediate in the photochemical carbonyl substitution of Cr(CO)6 with 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) has been investigated by laser flash photolysis with infrared detection. Cr(CO)5(phen) was found to have a capped-octahedron type structure; five carbonyls maintained a square-pyramidal geometry and phen coordinated unusually in a monodentate fashion.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
