Abstract:The VanRS two-component system regulates the resistance phenotype of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). VanS is a sensor histidine kinase that responds to the presence of vancomycin by autophosphorylating and subsequently transferring the phosphoryl group to the response regulator, VanR.
