Structure, Properties and Cytostatic Activity of Triorganotin (Aminoaryl)carboxylates

Abstract: 4) have been investigated. The structures of complexes 1, 2, and 3, have been determined by Xray crystallography. Compound 1 is a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal complex and compounds 2 and 3 adopt a distorted tetrahedral structure. Complex 1 is a single-strand polymer with a bridging 3,4-diaminobenzoato ligand coordinating via the O(1) atom of the carboxylato group and the nitrogen atom [a]

“…The tin atoms in TBTA complex in solid state are fivecoordinated with axial coordination sites occupied by oxygen atoms of bridging carboxylate ligand. In solutions, polymeric TBTA complex dissociate giving also trigonal bipyramidal SnBu 3 (OOCR)(solv) complexes with RCOO and solvent molecule coordinated in axial positions [12,13] In the presence of water in solutions, H 2 O is most probably coordinated to the Sn atom. The TPhTA in solid state and in solutions has pseudotetrahedral structure because phenyl groups are more sterically demanding ligands than butyl groups.…”

“…Both TBTA and TPhTA are very active against A549 cells. Also in relation to HCV29T human cell line, they are more active than cis-platinum [13,14]. The mechanism of biological activity of organotin compounds is not yet totally clear.…”

“…1 (1) The synthesis of 1 has been reported earlier [40] by two different methods, utilizing reactions of Ph 2 SnO and HL 1 as well as (Ph 3 Sn) 2 O and HL 1 , both conducted in ethanol. The yields of the products were 50% and 68%, respectively, and the melting point was not reported.…”

“…To the very promising antitumor agents of the third generation belong organometallic tin compounds [4,8]. Recently, a number of tin complexes were studied and in many cases they seem to manifest efficient anticancer activity [4,8,9]. The advantage of their use as antitumor medicines lies in their lower costs and possibly in a gretaer effectivness.…”
