“…The NiOP bond (2.159 Å) was identical to the distance (2.160 Å) for 7 23 but was shorter than the distances 2.31 and 2.30 Å for NiCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 24 and NiCl(PPh 3 ) 3 , respectively. 27 The average NiOC length was 2.14 Å, which was nearly equal to the average bond distances (2.13-2.15 Å) for Ni(C 5 H 5 ) 4 H 3 , 28 Ni(C 5 H 5 ) 4 H 4 , 29 and (C 5 Me 5 )Ni(PEt 3 )(OTol). 30 The Cp(centroid)ONiO Cl and Cp(centroid)ONiOP angles were 127.5 and 140.0°, respectively.…”

“…An X-ray analysis of the structural isomer (triclinic) for 9 (trigonal) was already reported, and each bond distance and bond angle were nearly identical. 27 Recently, living radical polymerizations of MMA and styrene were reported with various HIGH POLYMERIZATION OF METHYL METHACRYLATE types of metal complexes, including Cu, [31][32][33] Fe, 34 Ru, [35][36][37][38]40 derivatives. To penetrate the polymerization mechanism, we performed random copolymerizations of MMA with styrene in a 1/1 ratio with complexes 5 and 8 coupled with MMAO.…”

“…3) 32,47 wherein the lack of steric strain results in a more ideal tetrahedral geometry (Cl-Co-P avg = 114°) 12 versus the distorted geometry of 1 (I-Co-P avg = 124.2°). Exposure of a solution of 1 in THF to oxygen leads to a rapid change in color from orange to pale blue, indicating formation of a Co II species (vide infra, EPR section), similar to a report of the reaction of [(PPh 3 ) 3 Co(Cl)] in air.…”

“…While the fate of all of the solution species is not yet known, the reduction of metal centers with ethanol to form acetaldehyde is well established. 4 In this discussion, we now report the unusual synthesis and crystal structure of the title complex, and compare the tris(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) cation to the many tris(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) cations already reported. The synthesis of the title complex included analytical grade reagents. 2,6-Pyridinedicarboxylic acid (0.17 g, 1 mmol) in ethanol (50 cm 3 ) was added dropwise into a stirred solution of iron(III) perchlorate hexahydrate (0.35 g, 1 mmol) in ethanol (50 cm 3 ) in a 250 cm 3 conical flask over a 30 min period at 60 C. The resulting mixture was stirred for an additional hour after the complete addition of 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid.…”
