“…The current trend of cutting funding for gifted education should serve as additional impetus for teachers, parents, administrators, and school boards to become active advocates for high-ability stu-dents and stem the tide of reductions of gifted education services (Besnoy, 2005). As school districts look for areas in which to save money, gifted students often find their needs neglected, as some in authority perceive enrichment opportunities for these students as superfluous (Bisland, 2003). The lack of supporters available to advocate for advanced students will increase the likelihood that programs for this special population will face continued reductions.…”
