Student-developed Learning Objectives: A Form of Assessment to Enable Professional Growth

Abstract: Her research interests are innovation-based-learning, educational data mining, and K-12 Outreach. She works for the NDSU College of Engineering as the K-12 Outreach Coordinator where she plans and organizes outreach activities and camps for students in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

“…MOOCIBL is an online portal that allows students and instructors to record and catalog in real-time the different processes that are happening in an IBL class. We base the platform on the principle that students can set their own learning objectives within a framework established to meet the requirements of the class's objectives [10]. Students have the freedom to establish what they are going to learn, but must include key class concepts (called pillars in MOOCIBL) and have to demonstrate their proficiency in these topics by applying and creating an innovation.…”
